Oh, sunshine....

Haley got sunburnt, and she is not happy.

Before I get into that, though, I want to wish my boyfriend a Happy 6 months together on my blog. I can't believe it's already been half a year since I said I would be his girlfriend and we had our first kiss. I love you. <3

So, anyway, enough mushiness. I went to class this morning and took my math test and feel like I did well on it, came home, and proceeded to vacuum my car, windex the windows of my car, wash my car, and wash my tires. Because despite the sun that decided to burn me today, the weather was beautiful, not too hot. Then I went outside on a photo shoot because there are tons of pretty flowers in my yard and they make me happy. Came inside to find that I had a really really bad sunburn from all of my time spent in the sun doing the car, and I was not happy because I only like to tan in my bathing suit because it's strapless so I don't look like a bunch of skin puzzle pieces. So I put on the bathing suit and tried to lay out in the sun to try to even things out and of course all of the clouds of the day waited until then to show up, so not much happened. I went for a run which makes me very happy, because its my third day in a row doing it, so so far, so good. I just want to be in shape again, so short runs are the way to go, because when I do normal exercises in my room like squats and crunches, once I'm actually starting to feel it I have the option to get lazy and just stop and "say" I'll do more later, when in reality I know I won't; however, once I go running, I have no choice but to finish because I have to get home lol.

So, my director told me after I taught class on Thursday to plan on coming in for that class every week, so pretty much that means I've got a baby class, and it might be MY class after awhile, I think she may let me take over teaching permanently once she feels I'm comfortable enough with it. I love it, even when they SUCK at listening like they did on Thursday lol. There's a new 4 year old in the class and she's so dramatic and has something to say about everything and doesn't understand the concept of the roles of student and teacher lol. Oh well, she'll get it eventually.

As I had posted, my grandmother hadn't been doing too well, so they were going to do a test yesterday morning and if she didn't do well they were going to take her off the pig nose and intubate her. They did the test and she did well so they left her alone and they would do it again today - when they did this morning she did fine again so for now she's still on the pig nose but still in the hospital.

Learning my lines in the script isn't going to be too hard, because luckily a large majority of my lines are responses to what other people are saying, so it's like an automatic prompt for most of them. Still haven't received the intro and conclusion paragraphs for the group essay from the last member, so I can't finalize that essay, so I'm starting to get nervous. I emailed my professor to ask if my service learning essay about tutoring is due on Monday as well or if we got an extension on that because I remember him saying something about it but I'm not sure. Looked through my application folder and it's not as bad as I thought, I've got almost everything done and the rest that has to be done really isn't for me to do, it's letters of recommendation from my FNED professor and the teacher I tutor for at the elementary school every week, and only a couple of things for me to do.

I am ready to sleep away the first couple of weeks of my summer vacation.

Kind of concerned what's going to happen for me financially this summer because I won't be teaching and I'm not working at the golf course this year so my only source of income will be Nicole. I really don't want to have to find another job where I have to worry about asking for days off and not getting yelled at for it. Society sucks.

Update

I was mistaken and did not hear my grandmother's voice on the answering machine, it was just a random message from Joe Nobody.

She's not doing well; any prayers and well wishes would be appreciated. :/

Busy, busy!

So I'm not going to lie and say there have been absolutely no opportunities to write a blog entry, but they HAVE been limited, which also goes to say that my free time has been limited, which means one of the last things on my mind when I have time to myself is, "Hey, let me go blog." Lol. So that's my "excuse." :P

SO. Thursday had been another Monday for me, I was really weak and rested, but by Friday I was almost back to normal, and now I'm 100% healthy and ready to cause trouble again.

I am currently wearing one of the dresses I bought on Tuesday, a teal spaghetti strap floor length sundress, and a short sleeved knit sweater I bought Tuesday as well. Wore my pink dress (same as this one) yesterday to tutor and there was a chorus of "I like your dress" from the kids before I could even say hello, haha love them. I asked the teacher if it would be okay if I kept coming in, because yesterday made 15 hours for me which is the requirement for my FNED class, but I'll need 25 total by the time I graduate, so I figured I'd just get the last 10 hours with these kids by going in for five more weeks, and she loved the idea so that's good. :)

I'm still going to be able to teach or at least help teach the pre-dance class my director let me cover for her while she went on vacation, which makes me SUPER EXCITED because I LOVE THEM TO PIECES. They're so freaking cute.

My maternal grandmother, who's been in a really bad way with her health for several years now, landed in the hospital a couple of nights ago because she caught the cold my grandfather had, but because her immune system is so shot, it turned into pneumonia for her. It sucks and of course I'm afraid, because she stayed overnight and didn't have a good night, but part of me is so used to her eventually going home even when it looks like it's as bad as it can get. And in turn, that whole "I'm used to it" feeing makes me even more anxious than before, because I don't want to think everything's going to be fine and then find out that it's not this time. We're probably going to go visit her this weekend so I won't be teaching at the studio for my hip hop girls again, which means 3 weeks will have gone by that I haven't seen them, which isn't cool. :/

School's crazy. I have a theatre final project where my group and I have to create our own 6-8 minute play. Write it, direct it, lights, sound, memorize the script, block it, the whole sha-bang. That's going to be presented a week from today. Due Monday is a presentation in my FNED class with my group about Violence in schools; we each took certain topics in violence to cover, and mine was cyberbullying. We each had to write at least 3 pages, and of course I offered to put all of the pieces together and finalize it, so that's something else on my plate, nevermind making sure I know what to talk about during the presentation, and find some kind of activity we can do with the class to make our presentation the full 30 minutes long. Also have to write a paper about my tutoring experience with the kids for my FNED class, also due Monday, which I haven't had a chance to start yet. I just got my study guide today for my political science final, where he gives us about 6 essay prompts and only one will be on the test, so I have to learn all 6, and then study my notes and try to find things in the book he might have as identifications because he gives us zero hints. Have to study for a math test this Friday, study for another quiz that isn't scheduled yet, and then study for the math final for May 11th. Have to make up last week's ARTE class tonight after class, ay ay ay.

And, on top of all of this, try to sort out my application for the school of Education which is due May 24, 25, and 26, and it's confusing as all hell.

Aaaaah college. Can't wait for it to BE OVER. My memere's always telling me that she would have loved to be able to finish school, she had to quit before graduating to help take care of her family, and I love and respect that, but it unfortunately still doesn't make me appreciate this any more.

J came over yesterday and we watched a movie and ate my world famous Mac & Cheese. He's leaving on Sunday and he doesn't know if he'll be back before he goes to Afghanistan, so it sucked saying goodbye.

It was 82 degrees in the SHADE yesterday. I was MISERABLE. I'm like a dog - if I'm hungry or too hot, stay away from me or you'll get your head bitten off. I can't STAND being too hot, which is why I'm so moody in the summer. We completely skipped the perfect temperatures of spring, because it's too hot again today. Rarararara...

Probably heading up to Buffalo after finals to stay with my boyfriend, very excited for that considering we never get to talk anymore because of his stupid job. Anybody want to join me in boycotting Target? It's fun, I promise.

Day 4

Tuesday went great - we DID go shopping, I felt a lot better yesterday, almost back to around 80% and I completely splurged on myself, which I never let myself do. I ended up buying 8 tops and 2 dresses at Forever 21 and 3 more tops at Savers. I miss shopping with my mom. Even though I shoot her down half of the time when she tells me what she thinks something looks like, I realize now how much I appreciate having her there for her input regardless, because when I go shopping with my friends, all I really want is my mom's opinion.

Speaking of wanting my mom's opinion...

Today I woke up feeling really bad, almost Sunday bad, but I decided to go to school and hope that it would pass. But it didn't. I have been SO sick today and I was crying by 2:30, on the phone with my father and trying to get in touch with my mother, because all I wanted to know was if she thought I should go to the doctor's. I emailed my ARTE professor and told her I won't be at class today which starts in about 20 minutes, and it just sucks because that class only meets once a week. I had to cancel babysitting the boys tonight which makes me feel absolutely terrible, I don't think I've ever cancelled on them, and if I have, it wasn't this last-minute.

Mount Haley is still here, I handed in my paper, took the quiz, and haven't gotten much schoolwork done because I had to leave my computer home today because I felt too weak this morning to carry it with me. On the flip-side, at least I got to read more of my book instead.

Oh, and, to make my day better, I got a blood blister on my thumb from one of the bathroom locks today. Yipee.

Sick Blogger

Alright, so

After I typed this, I realized I've started all but one of my entries with "So," "Alright," or "Alright, so" because this is a terrible habit of mine. It has been for at least the last 4 years, because I started to notice it in  my journal entries in 10th grade English. But it's how I start off stories I tell to people, and I'm basically telling a story with each entry, so it's fitting.

Anyway.

So, I caught the strange 3-5 day stomach bug the boys had. Yesterday around 4 pm I got to see those yummy frozen veggies a second time, along with the Rice Krispies I had yesterday morning. But my parents said I could still go to my cousin's reception with them since there was really nothing left in my stomach and I felt fine after the fact. So we went, and it was cute, and I got to meet my cousins' new 5 week old daughter, what an angel. I was very weak all night, and couldn't stand for more than a minute or two before needing to sit down again, and hasn't gotten much better today. I had a banana and some more Rice Krispies for breakfast today because my stomach was practically screaming at me to feed it, and had some four cheese pasta for a late lunch and have been feeling fine all day, just very very weak. Emailed all of my professors last night to let them know I wouldn't be in class today, so I'm handing in papers and responses late and taking a quiz on Wednesday. Thank goodness it's April vacation for the public schools because it means I don't have to tutor tomorrow morning.

- Mt. Haley has not disappeared
- My FNED work hasn't been fully completed
- Fame paper has been written
- Still have to study for Math
- Have read a little bit of my book
- Be sad because Tuesday Shopping Trip probably isn't going to happen
- Have lounged on the couch all day napping while watching Gone With The Wind and Tarzan

Yeap, that's pretty much it.

A productive blog post!

So, instead of writing out a list of all of the things I need to / want to get done tonight on paper, I decided to kill two birds with one stone and just start of my blog post with it, since writing an entry will be on the list.

In no particular order:

- write blog entry
- make Mt. Haley disappear (This is a common term used in my household when my pile of clean clothes stacked on my floor reaches an exceptionally ridiculous height/width.)
- work on FNED violence paper/project
- work on FNED service learning paper
- maybe do FNED reading responses
- write theatre response paper on "Fame"
- math hw to study for quiz on Monday to maintain my 100 average! :D
- read more of my book (Water for Elephants)
- remind C I can't teach dance tomorrow night
- get really excited for Tuesday and hope mom doesn't cancel :P (This will be further explained.)
- put curlers in my hair for my cousin's wedding reception tomorrow... I forgot about this until now, and now I'm frustrated. So not looking forward to putting them in, or losing a good night's sleep because of them. >:(

Alright, so, I have been going nonstop for the last 36 hours. Woke up yesterday at 10 to clean the house and get it ready for my best friend to sleep over last night, showered, picked up the boys, picked my best friend up from her college - it took me an hour and a half to get there, instead of 45 minutes... I love 5 o'clock traffic - met up with some more friends for dinner in Providence on Thayer before heading to school to see "Fame" - it was awesome. M did an amazing job, very proud whenever I watch her. <3 Sat next to my professor and his date which only became slightly awkward when we didn't acknowledge the fact that he was sitting next to us, and became more awkward whenever she kissed him on the cheek... hahaha. Then ran to my car with my best friend so we could make it to the 10:45 showing of Scream 4, and we made it only a minute or two after the movie had started - WIN. Thank you, sincerely, Wes Craven, for not ruining your own masterpiece. I was PETRIFIED that this movie was going to COMPLETELY taint the trilogy. I was happily proved wrong. Got home and completely conked out because we were so tired.

Today, we woke up shortly after 9 today and ran a couple errands before meeting our third musketeer for breakfast, then headed to the mall so I could finally get some body spray because I ran out. Walked through Forever 21 and almost died, for two reasons - One, whenever I shop on their website online, I'm always distraught, because they're doing completely modern with their style and I HATE IT. I miss their old vintage feel, and I'm heartbroken that it's disappearing. And two, THEIR WEBSITE LIESSS. I walk into the store and it's summer dresses and vintage everything galore, as it should be. I wanted. To buy. EVERYTHING. If it's ivory, mauve-ish pink, has tons of lace, and/or looks remotely questionable to a guy (which I had one with me), you know it's vintage and amazing, hahaha. So I came home and was being dramatic as always and was like "Moooom, can you just give me, like, a hundred dollars to spend at Forever 21 puh-leeeeease?" Now, to understand the completely randomness of her response to this question I asked without any expectation of getting any serious consideration in the answer, you have to know that I have been buying myself my clothes since I was 14. Granted, I haven't always actually had the money to get stuff when I needed it, so my mom would pay, but I have a "bill" and she keeps track of what I owe her. Don't get me wrong, she's not a psycho who makes her daughter slave to buy stuff, she was just tired of buying me perfectly good clothes (that I openly confessed before purchasing that I did not like) for me and being pissed when I wouldn't wear them. So she figured if I had to pay for them I would wear them. So when I threw this comment out today, I was shocked when she was like what? So I explained my dilemma of loving millions of things in the store again and she was like, well maybe we can go Tuesday. And I was like, you're going to buy me things? And she was like yeah, maybe. We can go Tuesday when I don't have to think about blah blah blah (the rest of this is insignificant to my point.) So I'm ecstatic because I might end up with LACY FLOWY NICE THINGS by the end of next week WOOO. After the mall we came home and I drove my best friend back to school and I stayed for dinner and ate amazing onion rings aaaaaaah yummy. Came home and have emptied and filled the dishwasher, washed the pots and pans on the stove, done laundry, and organized our dish towel drawer because it drives me INSANE. So now that my crazy schedule is out of my head, I can stop worrying about it and get to a part of this entry that might actually be something worthwhile.

A year ago today, technically, by the date, even though last year the day was Friday, I met my boyfriend. He clearly was not my boyfriend back then. :P It was the day one of my bests took me to her boyfriend's military college in Vermont for a dance called Junior Ring Ball, because his friend needed a date (and for the record, this friend was not the boy who would become my boyfriend). So, we headed up Friday, and once we were pulling onto campus after the 4 hour drive, I said, "Am I allowed to change my mind?"

I'm the girl that doesn't try new things unless I'm gently forced to. Emphasis on gently. I used to be loud and the center of attention, and now I'm often the quiet observer. I don't necessarily like the change, but it's my comfort zone, so I stick with it. I'm still loud and obnoxious around those who matter, so they know the real me, and know what I can put up with and what I can't when it comes to doing new things. I am so glad I went that weekend, I met some pretty amazing people, from all over the world no less, and we had a great weekend. I'm bummed that my best and I aren't there this weekend, but we'll see everyone again soon. I'm just going through MAJOR nostalgia today, so it's like, meh. :/

Anybody else hate those silly little marks glasses leave on your nose after they've been on for awhile?

And am I the only person just discovering how amazingly delicious frozen veggies are? Nevermind the fact that they're more nutritious than produce from the supermarket, but the fact that they taste better thanks to being frozen basically right after being picked makes me looooove them even more.

In the car today, I had lots of time to think (while suffering the nostalgia), and have come to the conclusion that, while I am very happy and blessed, there's something off in my life, and I need to pinpoint it and sucker punch it. I have a feeling that I know what it is, but I don't want to jump to any conclusions, so I'm going to sit back for a while and see what happens...

I'm giving myself 23 minutes to write a blog entry...

SO HERE I GO!

Alright, so today was Dad's birthday, and I forgot I had to babysit... Merp. So, I woke up and made his card:

He laughed. :) Then I left to teach my pre-dancers. One of the cutest little girls alive I've seen before was in class today to do a make-up, and now I know what her teacher meant when she said she doesn't pay attention haha. So I eventually just let her stare at herself in the mirror while we danced. It was a crazy class, what with her and two new girls all at once, plus a larger number of the normal girls that I'm used to being there. And yet, I still loved every minute of it. The director came home from vacation tonight though, and she teaches that class, so I don't think I'm going to be teaching them anymore, which is kind of heartbreaking. :( I'm going to call and double check things with her to make sure.

Then I picked up the boys from the bus stop and daycare, and after going home for a quick snack and bathroom opportunities, I took them to the playground and we stayed for over an hour. I sat and read Water for Elephants while they played. I honestly wish I had made the time to read this book back in senior year when I had originally heard about it and decided I wanted to read it - it's so good. Didn't even have to wait for it to catch my attention, it just happened. Anyway, the boys behaved like ANGELS, mostly because I let them stay long enough to get it out of their systems. The younger of the two even asked to go home right before I was about to tell them 5 more minutes. When I told the older to say goodbye to his friends, he did exactly as I asked and didn't try to get away with more playing.

It's not that they're usually badly behaved, because they're not - they're actually great boys. It's just still really nice when they behave so well. It's not like I raise them, but it still somehow makes me feel like I'm doing some little thing right in my own position as the babysitter with them to receive the cooperation I get. I'm going to bawl my eyes out the days they get married. Ay ay ay.

Put two exhausted little boys to bed - the older one didn't need to be told twice to turn the TV off, and tiredly walked his way into the kitchen, got vitamins and medicine for himself and his brother, and while I distributed his brother's medicine, he went upstairs, and was already brushing his teeth by the time I made it up with his brother. He asked if I could read a Spongebob book that I had bought them for Christmas, but I've honestly read it the last three times in a row I've put them to bed, so I said no, and then he asked if he could read a book to me... so I obviously was excited and told him that he could. I realized that he's the same age as the first graders I tutor so I started comparing him to what I see in Providence. He did very well, and he asked me to finish the book while he laid with the dog on the floor, so cute. They crawled into bed and gave me no fuss, it was really nice. Watched Dear John again and a few minutes of the beginning of Gone With The Wind before their mom came home.

Oh, and these are amazing by the way:

Unfortunately, it was Daddy's bedtime by the time I got home, so I only got to say goodnight and get one last birthday hug out of him before he crawled in. :/

And, as promised, here is a picture of the Grey's Anatomy set/scene design project I did with my friends for our theatre class:

Lol... Alex and Cristina's heads just cracked us up. I had to cut their heads out and stick them to bodies of suits and dresses, and Cristina just looks awkward for no reason, but I had printed out two heads for Alex, and everybody liked this one, despite the fact that it faced the opposite way of the body in the suit, so he looks like he's straining his neck to see something hahaha... If anybody isn't familiar with Grey's Anatomy, or even just this scene, it's when Denny dies and Izzy is distraught because he had just proposed - Alex had been with Izzy in the past, so we all joked that now he was doing that funky move with his neck, like, "What? He's dead? Do I smell possibility?" so we intentionally placed him by the bed to strain and stare lol.

And, just because I can, I'm going to throw it out there that T. R. Knight is perfect, and so is Sara Ramirez.

Goodnight.

[added in after original posting] HELL YEAH! Made it in my time frame! Suh-WEET!

A great day, ruined by Clifford The Big Red Dog...

Don't get me wrong, I believe that art has the potential to be amazing and beautiful and insightful and all that fun stuff, but times like today just remind me of why I was never the biggest fan of making it myself.

Let's start off with waking up today. I woke up 20 minutes past when I wanted to wake up. I'm not even kidding - last night, when I set my alarm for 6:20 (30 minutes earlier than usual because I wanted to take a shower... and I almost never shower in the morning. I'd rather get more sleep than look all fancy... all I'm doing is moping through an 11 hour school day anyway), I literally said out loud several times "You can only hit snooze ONCE. Snooze ONCE. Snooze ONCE..." And how many times did I hit snooze? Twice. So I get downstairs to find my dad awkwardly standing by the bathroom door looking at me, and I realize he needs the shower, too. So I tell him I need to leave the house in fifteen minutes so he lets me take my quick shower first. I had planned ahead of time to let my hair air-dry for he first time in ages because I knew it was going to be raining and kind of humid...

Now, my hair is the most uncooperative bunch of dead cells you will EVER meet. Beautiful? Yes, when I fight with it enough. Cooperative is a NO. My friend was playing with it this summer and told me that it has a mind of its own. You can TRY to make it do what you want it to, but it will just return to whatever it actually wants to do as soon as you stop paying attention. It's ridiculous. Plus, I have a bunch of short fly-aways on the sides of my head parallel to my eyes that haven't grown since I was about three or four years old, and all they do is curl like my hair used to curl when I was little. If all of my hair curled, I wouldn't mind it, but my hair is evil enough to not be that simple. It needs to be humid for most of my hair to be decently wavy, or (if I'm lucky) curly. The bottom-most hair gets REALLY curly without me doing anything to it, as do the ends of my hair. The rest of it needs to be helped out with some primping and crimping. Today, for the first time since probably September or so, I let my hair air dry and it waved decently. My hair was alive, and it was so amazing, because I'm SO tired of all of the static from winter, so that just put me in an AMAZING mood from the get-go today. (I just realized this, but *note: Remember this bit about how my hair cooperating affected my mood... the reference will come back.)

So I get to school, go through my day, and it's pretty okay. Then I go to my last class from 4:00 - 7:00. I'm taking an Art Education class; it's only a 2 credit class, but I had to take it at some point, so I did it this semester. For some reason, I've been doing great! A's on everything. We presented lesson plans last week, as well, which is kind of like The Big assignment in this class, aside from some portfolio artifacts we had to do, and I got my grade of A+ back today, so of course it made me feel even better. Go today! You rock!...

Then my teacher started showing us these huge all-paper puppets past students had made, which was going to be our assignment today. We came to class prepared with a character from literature all picked out and ready to go - I had chosen Clifford the Big Red Dog, because he was one of my favorites growing up, and I was OBSESSED with the puppet they had of him at the library, so much so that my parents bought me my own eventually. So, I thought, how cute, I can make my own Clifford puppet out of paper.

Yeah, no.

I can't even begin to describe how you're supposed to make it, except for the fact that it seemed impossible. I sat in my seat for at least half of the class doing the following:

1.)  Staring at the mouth of the puppet, which was what we started with and had to build off of.
2.)  Trying to figure out how to make this piece of crap fold of paper look like a dog.
3.)  Not figuring anything out and getting frustrated / feeling hopeless.
4.)  [*here's where the hair reference comes back into play:] Telling everyone that I was trying not to cry from frustration, because I'm the girl who will cry when her hair won't cooperate after a certain amount of tries. (No lie, ask my mom - she'll hear me cry or stomp my foot or throw my brush onto the dresser and tell me to do something else and go back to it in a minute. It's just how I've always been, and will always be, no matter how infantile it seems)
5.)  Threatening, out loud, to walk out without doing the assignment. "I've gotten all A's so far. I DESERVE a shitty project/grade."
6.)  Creating a tongue to go in the mouth. (It came out good; however, this was followed by more of #5 regardless.)
7.)  Dropping F-bombs, out loud, at any given moment.
8.)  Telling my glue stick that fell onto the floor to go f*** itself.
9.)  Repeating steps 1-8 over and over again, minus #6.

I'm going to assume by now you have realized just how miserable I was for three hours. I finally decided that as long as I stapled some paper together, I could just hand it in and finally go home. So that's what I did.

This was the final product:

Pretty much was miserable for nothing, because she loved it.

I need to get out of college lol. I spent my ride home belting "All The Above" by Maino to de-stress, which only irritated my TMJ, so I almost ended up with a headache in addition to a tight back and shoulders.

And, speaking of muscles (the perfect flow of this entry is now freaking me out), my legs KILL from dancing. Not like I'm not used to it, though, so it was still completely worth it.

Anyway, once I was home, my dad asked how my day was, so I was allowed to go on a HUGE verbal rant about the whole Clifford thing, and he was cracking up, which made me feel better, so I'm over it. Woo! Go Daddy!

Hmmm... Daddy and the big 4 - 9 (again) tomorrow... bahaha. No but really, I figured out the perfect idea for his birthday card... I'll post about it tomorrow after I make it and give it to him. :D

I might write another entry later tonight, but I need food. I need to post a picture of the set design I made with four of my friends for our theatre class that we presented today. Love Grey's Anatomy. <3

So like I always say, I can't make any promises. :P

Change of Plans

So we never got to go to Dairy Queen... no fair. SO, I treated myself to a milkshake after teaching dance haha.

I helped with training class, and half the girls in that class are the girls I taught a year and a half ago when I started teaching, and they were all little 9 and 10 year olds... And now they have all literally grown at least a head taller than they used to be, or more, and are threatening to pass my 5 foot 3 inches... Not cool. I keep telling them to stop growing, but they don't listen. :( The day they all get Facebooks, I am going to cry, and feel so old. Forget when they start talking about boyfriends. Waaaaah. I mean, I taught the older hip hop class last year as well, and in each class was a sister - today in training company, I called the younger sister by her older sister's name because she's grown so much that I honestly figured she was the older one. Though, if I had used my common sense, I would have realized that the older one is in company with my cousin, who is in Junior Company. Whatever. It's my old brain already starting to fail me.

I'm only dramatic because it's fun. But honestly, I know I'm still young, but that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to feel old. Shai and I decided to do leaps tonight with the girls, and it felt amazing, but the fact that I know I'm going to pay for it tomorrow with a sore body is just so depressing. I may only be 19, but I'm still allowed to wish my body had the kind of resilience it had when I was 14. I may only be 19, but I still know that, from this point on, it only goes downhill (physically), which is depressing.

On a side note, I'm finally Skyping with my boyfriend for the first time in weeks. Which is also sort of depressing if you focus on the "for the first time in weeks" part, but I'm trying to just focus on the "I'm finally Skyping with my boyfriend" part.

First Blog

Alright, so I'm not gonna lie... I've always been the girl that thinks, "Oh man, are you serious? A blog? Lame..." And yet, here I am. I'm gonna give it a go. I know bloggers are supposed to regularly update, and I'm going to try, even if they're just little boring posts about my day, but I can't make any promises! Bear with me. My days are not insanely busy, but I have those days where sometimes I just want to sit back and roam around on Facebook or play some mah-jongg or watch something on Hulu while I'm actually on my computer instead of write about a day that has been stressful; I'm sure you understand what I mean. So, with that said, here we go.

My father is turning 50 in 2 days. But I insist that he's really just turning 49 a second time. He will turn 49 and infinite amount of times from now on every April 14th for the rest of his life, I assure you. It's not that I think getting older is a bad thing, but for several reasons, I want to pretend my father is still less than half a century old. First off, because saying my father is 50 just makes ME feel old period, and I am not old by any means haha. My father has always been the man in my life, and he will always be the man in my life. He has always been strong, and energetic, and ready to try something new. He loves adventure, and I wish I had more of that in me. There is plenty of my father in me, though, and it's all the good parts, so I cannot complain. My parents did a hell of a good job putting their best in me, and I'm so lucky for it. So I don't want to say my father's 50, because 50 just sounds like he's getting old and boring, and he's nowhere close. The day my father starts to slow down, I will actually admit he's getting older. But for now, the only thing that's changed since I was a kid is that he can't pick me up and carry me around for extended periods of time anymore, but that's only because I'm 122 pounds instead of 40.

So, today is the day that we (we as in me, my mother, my sister, and my father) are going to celebrate my father's birthday for the four of us, by making our trip to Dairy Queen. When I was a kid, my parents took my sister and I to Dairy Queen when we got good report cards... which was always, so it was a nice treat. We celebrated on Sunday with one of his six sisters and her husband and my memere and pepere, and it was a delicious dinner/desert. My aunt moved into an old farmhouse in Foster a year and a half ago, and I absolutely love going over to visit, it's beautiful and she's probably the aunt that I have the most relationship with of the six, mostly because she's closest with my father so we see her more. In the last year, now that I have a car, I've been able to make a few visits on my own, as well, which is nice. My memere made a pineapple upside down cake for desert on Sunday, and it was delicious - Dad's favorite, but I'd never had one before. Apparently Mem dropped the first one on the floor. Pepere said it was a pineapple right side up cake haha I love my Pepere. He passed down the wise ass-ness to my father, and he passed it down to me, which I am very thankful for. Makes life interesting. Anyway, Memere went out and bought stuff to make a new cake. Poor thing, they all teased her. "Hey mom, do you want to bring the cake to the table?" "No, I think you'd better do it."

I just got called to fill in for a dance class tonight because the teacher's not feeling great so she'll need some help. Time to go tell mom and dad we need to head out for ice cream now if we're going to make it in time, I've got to leave to teach in an hour.
